A tiny speck of rock hurtles around it's mother star at a ferocious speed. Bombarded from every angle by meteorites, this juvenile planet is a hostile place to be. Yet deep within the maelstrom; sheltered from the void above by a thick soup of toxic water, lurks a volcanic oasis where huge plumes of gas seep through the rock as the planet coughs and splutters its innards into the atmosphere above.

What was it that caused these effervescent earthly exhalations to coalesce into an organised structure? Was it divine intervention? Or an artistic expression on behalf of the planet itself, of which every living organism has been a part of since; demonstrated in a dazzling display of colour over eons by every dancing chemical reaction taking place..

It will always remain a mystery as to what caused the seemingly lifeless, yet effervescent molecules of carbon, hydrogen, nitrogen and oxygen to gather together; performing the most astounding microscopic dance routine through the murky depths. What sub-particle gave them the notion to reproduce? What quark made them desperate to survive, against the odds, competing and eating their neighbour atoms?

Storing their burgeoning personalities in long chains of amino acids and proteins; copy-pasting their very existence from one generation to the next..
