Over the last 31 years as a booking agent, I've ran on to tremendous talent, from places you'd never think about. From places you've probably never even heard of. Yet, these places have produce some of the best talent I've ever had the pleasure of booking! Ever had the pleasure of hearing! A true privilege! Hookers Farm was such a band!
Hookers Farm is a prime example of world class talent that had the potential to sale millions of records in my opinion. Hailing from Creston, IA, population around 8,000, Hookers Farm was the very definition of a band, that worked better as a whole, than a band surrounding one huge talent. That is not to say, there was not huge talent here, there was, in the world class vocals & writing abilities of brother & sister, Dino & Alexi Groumoutis! Alexi's singing voice, spun of pure silken gold! Her phrasing, pitch, texture, other worldly, conveying the deep emotions of this deep music with a sincerity rarely heard! Her voice, caressing your ears, yet demanding of your attention! Brother Dino's vocals, deep, deep, from the soul, ringing true & strong! Only matched by his great heart, that welled up in his voice with every syllable! Yes, Dino & Alexi had a rare gift, the true gift of music, so profound, that one has to ask themselves, where could all of this immense talent come from? It came from their upbringing, which gave them strong & true heart. Hard workers all their life, Dino & Alexi knew how to write a song about real life issues, from within their own experiences, & the people who surrounded them. Transcending not only their own lives, but touching everyone's life with in ear shot of their music. Yes, talent like this is rare indeed, & the band filled with childhood friends, produced a bond so strong, that it rang out through their music, in a way only a band of childhood friends can do!
