Deck Cheese records was born in early 1998 as idea in the pub (like all great ideas!). Having worked on Big Cheese magazine together we decided to put together a compilation album that reflected the bands that appeared in the mag. Deck Cheese Volume One was released in the Autumn of '98 & was followed by Volume 2 in the summer of the following year. By this time we were receiving loads of quality demos from UK bands & decided to do a comp of UK only punk from all areas of the spectrum. The Beast Of British was the result, released in 2000.After the Beast's release one of the bands featured, Vanilla Pod were looking for a new label to put their new album out on & asked us.
