D'Indy's final symphony might be seen as a monument to French patrtiotism and nationalism during WWI, which became almost extinct after the conflict ended. It musical qualities and tensions make it one of the landmarks of French late romanticism.

La última sinfonía de D'Indy puede ser vista por muchos como un monumento al patriotismo francés durante la 1GM, que casi se extinguió al final del conflicto. Sus características netamente musicales y tensiones armónicas la convierten en una de las obras más representativas de romanticismo tardío francés.
