Deadsun is a four piece alternative metal band that explodes with energy and purpose. The music ranges from over the top aggressive to contemplative. The pounding rhythms and memorable hooks immediately grab your attention but it is the depth and intelligence of the songwriting that keep people coming back for more. In addition to the catchy songs, Deadsun's live shows are volcanic, precise and exhilarating.
Biography
The story of Deadsun begins in 1999 when drummer Adam "bandit" Hempseed and guitarist Rex Arthur met through a mutual friend. The three formed the band that eventually became Deadsun.
In December of 2001, Hempseed and Arthur teamed up with singer Todd Cadorette. Chris Veach came on board while "Degenerate Matter" was being recorded, adding the percussive low-end tightness needed to push Deadsun's live show over the top. The band quickly developed an ultra-tight high-energy live show that reflects its member's enthusiasm and conviction. Rex adds, "Our goal, every time we play is to give every thing that is in us.to hold nothing back and to always leave the stage knowing we just gave the audience one hell of a show!" After a year of playing gigs locally the band decided to go into the studio and record a demo. What started out as a demo evolved into the full length CD Degenerate Matter. The recording was done in Nashville, TN at The Track House and mixed at the Sound Kitchen. The CD was engineered and co-produced by Jim Lightman who had recorded everything from Hank III to Full Devil Jacket to India Arie. Deadsun released their CD Degenerate Matter on March 6th of 2004 in front of a packed house at the Blue Sky Court in Nashville. Deadsun is playing shows regionally every weekend, creating quite a "buzz" and winning new fans in every city they visit.
In 2005, Dee Quinlan took over bass duties and helped to expand the fan base.
Dee brought a new energy and drive to the band. His unmistakable look and thunderous bass sound completely redefined the live experience. His after show antics were equally as legendary. Dee launched the band Myspace account and would work tirelessly 3+hours a night answering any and all messages. He booked shows, worked on T-shirt designs and helped design the cover of the 2006 release Falling away.
In 2006, Deadsun released their 2nd cd "Falling Away" containing several songs that earned radio air play around the country. "If Only" has been a fan favorite. Also, a video was filmed for the song "Purify".
Then tragedy struck. In July 2008, just weeks before the bands first extended tour Dee suffered a heart attack. The result was that he could no longer play live and decided to leave the band. This was a blow from which Deadsun has yet to recover. The band broke up a few months later.
Chris rejoined the band in December 2009 for the reunion show. Scott Haynes joined in July of 2010.
They have shared the stage with many bands such as: Dark New Day, Flaw, Saliva, Breaking Benjamin, Black Stone Cherry, Evans Blue, SOiL, Staind, Three Days Grace, Chevelle, Full Devil Jacket, Sevendust, etc.
Deadsun is currently playing local shows and is contemplating recording a new CD.
Current lineup is Todd Cadorette, Rex Arthur, Chris Veach and Scott Haynes
