Born of a violinist father, David began playing violin, piano, and flute in his young age. However entering into his teens, he switched his instruments to Drums. He started playing drums in churches. However, his interest in drums went beyond the conventional drum kit. He started collecting and learning to play various world percussive instruments such as African Djembe, Congas, Bongos, Turkish Dumbek, Nigerian Udu, and other auxiliary percussion. He has a degree in Computer Science from York University as well as a degree in Jazz Studies (percussion major) from Humber College. He has studied with Paul Delong, Don Vickery, Bob Mclaren, Mark Kelso, and Pat labarbera. David is currently under the mentorship of the Jazz Great Don Thompson and Jim Blackley. He has played with Pop Artists such as Paul Price, Emma Cook, Ins, played with Gospel Artist name Jacen, and Gospel band called Deep Waters. He has recorded couple of soundtracks for films: “Begin to Begin” and “Quarter Past Five”. He also has done some theatre gigs around Toronto. David is currently residing in Toronto playing various Jazz, Pop, RnB, Folk, and Theatre gigs.
