Sienna Dahlen grew up in Dawson Creek, BC. At the ripe age of 19 she moved to Nanaimo, BC and studied jazz for the first time at Malaspina College (aka Vancouver Island University). Two years later, she strutted across the country to ultra-cool Montral, QC, a city that would become her home for the next decade. While in Montreal, Sienna continued along her path of exploration and learned French, delved into Shiatsu, completed her Bachelor of Music degree at McGill University and released 3 full-length cds and an EP under her name. Sienna has collaborated with some of Canada's finest musicians including Joel Miller, Christine Jensen, Kevin Dean, Marcus Paquin, Steve Amirault, Jeff Johnston, Dave Restivo, Kieran Overs, George Koller, Stefan Schneider, Nick Fraser, Dave Laing, Jodi Proznick, Tilden Webb, Mike Rud, Andrew Downing, Quinson Nachoff, Jim Head, Jim Doxas and the list goes on and on. In 2007, the amazing Norwegian/Canadian film "The Danish Poet", (created by Torill Kove, music by Kevin Dean) won an Academy Award. Sienna is proud to have provided the vocals for the sound track of that film. Sienna currently teaches jazz voice at the University of Toronto and has had the pleasure of being an Artist in Residence at notable institutions on several occasions in Canada and Europe. In addition, Sienna regularly gives clinics and workshops to aspiring musicians throughout her travels. Sienna has spent a good amount of time touring her music in several countries in Europe including France, Belgium, Russia, Switzerland, Denmark and Ukraine. She has also made appearances in Mexico at the Mrida International Jazz Festival and in New York City at the SMOKE Jazz Club and the Cornelia Street Caf. In the summer of 2010, Sienna has released albums in France and Denmark on the Gateway Music and Paris Jazz Underground labels (worldwide distribution on the net) with the Karl Jannuska Sextet (FR) and the Baerentzen/Dahlen Project (DK) and continues to spread her wings across the ocean or wherever they will reach.

"…What an incredible direction for jazz. Excellent singerand beautiful instrumental work.she sounds like she's got something to say and really knows how to say it. Joni Mitchell should hear her. People would hear a musical/spiritual link between them.”

Bill Henderson, Canadian Producer, Composer, Musician and SOCAN board-member
