DESCRIPTION:
This is my favorite artist (and good friend) playing at Common Grounds Coffee House in Lexington Kentucky. The sound quality is OK, but check out his MySpace (www.MySpace.com/daveapplegate) for better sound quality. You can also check him out at www.daveapplegate.com. He writes all his own lyrics and music and they are amazing.

Airport Store
Walking down an empty street / Buildings of glass / City that constantly sleeps / Looking for an airport store with models of planes, trinkets and things / Walk into the lobby of a structure that looks just like the others

It's full of elevator doors, nothing more except for a solitary sign with information of the floors above / I didn't want floor seventeen / The airport store was on the fourth floor / To be exact, floor four and a half

Hope you have a nice day
Welcome, welcome
Make your way to the airport store

Wandered toward a door in the back, pressed the up button for floor four and a half / The elevator doors opened to a sight surreal, the face from the one dollar bill / I also saw the trademarks of a tall top hat, a beard and a towering man / There Washington and Lincoln stood / How they got there, your guess is as good as mine

But let's not be ridiculous
There cannot be a floor four and a half
So I pressed the button for the fourth floor
And I made my way to the airport store

Got up to the floor of my departure, stepped out the door and before I went on my way, said it's good to meet you and run, President Lincoln and President Washington / I stepped into a train station / The lobby'd been converted to a flea market

Kiosk haven, rickshaws pass by
Welcome, welcome
I make my way to the airport store

On the other side of the huge room, past the commotion was the store I was looking for / I made my way to the back and when I got there, what to my eyes should appear ...

"Hope you have a nice day
Welcome, welcome, welcome to the airport store"

Knew I was in the right place by looking around it / I'd finally found it / It didn't have the normal fare, but I didn't care, I was just glad to be there / This place was packed with plenty beach toys for all you good beach girls and you good beach boys

But let's not be ridiculous
Let's not be ridiculous
This is just ridiculous

When I had my fill of the store, just outside the door sat a man with more than a tan / He had on a Hawaiian shirt, a Panama hat and in a beach chair he leaned back / His belly was a firm round thing / he looked up at me through sunglasses gone back in time / He said this like it was good advice,
"I hope that when you wake up ...

Hope you have a nice day
Good to have you
You're welcome to the airport store"
