This was the first set of what was to be a truly electric night at Folk Club An Bonnán Buí with the man who few can dispute is the finest traditional Irish banjo in the world today. Damien O'Kane accompanied by bodhran supremo John Joe Kelly and guitar maestro Gerard Thompson played - with a vim and gusto few other musicians can muster it must be said - well into the wee hours and were part of a first anniversary celebration that will long be remembered by the good folk who came out that night to enjoy what is now a well established Folk Club that will continue to bring the very cream of Irish folk and traditional music to those who come to gather in Crossmaglen at the very heart of the Oriel. So come and pay us a viist. There'll never be a better night, there'll only be different ones. Our Folk Clubs take place the last weekend of every month.
