Retsin's Cynthia Nelson headed up her own, less folky, rock band along with Letha Rodman Melchior (guitar), Jennifer Rogers (guitar, vocals), and Laura Rogers (drums). What She Does is their first non-single project, and it's a doozy. Immediately we're charmed with fast riffs and Nelson's shouting vocals. Clever deception, this is the fastest track in the bunch. The rest are slower, and some even have with light codas. A very warm and welcome surprise, allowing the band to jam out for all the track is worth. Dying On The Vine is a killer track most exemplary of these qualities, but the whole project is great rock music. Nelson's vocals sounding better than they ever did on Retsin, and Jennifer Rogers subtle backing vocals providing the perfect compliment when necessary.
