"Clayton Starr," was born Clayton Shaw. Clayton grew up in one the worst areas of St. Louis, MO. He knew as a child he had to get out of this situation.

Music became very dear to him at the age of 6, while in the 1st Grade he began to play the Recorder. This started the process of music making at the early age of 8. A friend of the family who was in a band recognized his musical talents and bought Clayton a Harmonica. Starr played songs he learned on the Harmonica. To this day he still has the Harmonica as it inspires him to continue to make creative music.

At the age of 11, he entered an International Studies Middle School and began rapping with his fellow classmates at the end of the gym bleachers. The principal thought the children were in a gang but they were only Beat Boxing and Rapping. Because of the principal's false assumptions he made Clayton join the school band and he played on the drum line. Being in the school band taught him the fundamentals of music as well as the concept. Clayton became interested in the Marimba and the decided to learn the instrument. He did learn to read notes very well. "Beats came out of no where" as he says "I just had a natural feel for it." The 7th Grade year was difficult for Clayton. In February the man who raised him (Jimmy) passed away, he then developed a "I DON'T CARE ATTITUDE," began fighting and pulling himself closer to the streets.

Clayton Starr made it to High School and started hanging out with the wrong crowd, every day he would skip class to battle rap in the hallway. It brought him ultra popularity, but killed his once straight A's. He had to come up with a plan to change his attitude and his life. "Music became an escape for me as long as there's music I will be making it," he says. Beyond producing, Clayton Starr has won numerous street battles gaining city-wide recognition as one of St. Louis' elite battle rappers and has had radio airplay in St. Louis with the rap group known as "Hot Squad" and as of recently solo airplay. Clayton plans on bringing a new St. Louis style into the industry, so prepare yourselves for the man known as the Truth, CLAYTON STARR.
