INTERVIEW

ø1 - What is your producing set-up ?

DRH :
My produce set-up is quite simple is just a computer with Ableton and Yamaha monitors :) In this time I don't feel that I need hardware to make better music, I feel my needs are fullfiled with my Ableton. Of course in the future I will consider some hardware to improve my production but I will use Ableton.

H8R:
My producing setup in the beginning of this project was my laptop and my headphones only... But for a year and something I've changed it all to go full on hardware. I stopped a year doing music as H8R and my other project because I was sick enough of using a computer and in fact it demotivated me. So nowadays my studio is basically an Analog Four, Analog Rytm, Octatrack, Moog Sub 37, Waldorf Blofeld and my modular synth plus a bunch of pedals. Way more restrictive than having 1001 VST but yeah more "free". When we do collabs well it's just recording everything and then we share the project in audio and work on it. I live in Porto, DRH lives in Lisbon.

Where do you pick up your inspiration ?

DRH :
I pick my inspiration in simple things in my daily basis, can be just listening some rock/alternative music, can be listening some techno producers such as: CTRLS, SNTS, Surgeon, Speedy J, etc.. Of course this inspiration feeling is very important to start some production without inspiration no music for me!

H8R:
My inspiration... Well that comes from many many sources, but normally in my mind I picture very dark scenarios and many horror / war movies. It's like I'm doing a soundtrack for the images in my head. At the same time when I do music as H8R i just don't care one tiny bit of what I am doing, just layering sounds on top of each other and not giving a fuck about aesthetics or anything else. Just bang the shit on.

ø3 - Why did you decide to work together ?

Well it was in November, near Xmas and we were talking about labels not accepting our work, people judging our music with our own actual names and we felt it was pretty lame that since we didn't had a name on the scene that our sound couldn't be release on good labels. So we decided to start something new, hiding our names for so many years and keep doing what we felt like was decent and hard bang good music.

ø4 - Can you tell a bit more about your label Curse Record ?

There isn't much to tell about Curse actually, it is what it is, a release platform for H8R and DRH works only. We don't give a fuck about the sounds, it can come out or just plain noise, it has no boundaries, it's to put out what many consider garbage and we consider gold :)

ø5 - Can you describe your experience during your gig in a church a Ruingoord ?

Well Ruigoord was pretty INSANE to be honest. The people from DOOR are super kind and very professional and the venue, the Ruigoord church is just incredible. The atmosphere was the right one for our kind of music. An old protestant ( I think it's protestant) church, for dark, agressive music. The crowd was insane. We did 1 hour live act which we didn't have many time to try out due to living in different cities, but it came out great for our expectations. And the crowd seemed to enjoyed it. Last hour and a half we did a DJ Set, where honestly I (H8R) risked all and started playing majorly old techno bangers with some pretty new ones who fit in that historic period. It was great, the best gig of our lives until now and we hope to return. The crowd was so supportive that even when we had some small problems with an USB Cable and Soundcard and we went no sound for some moments, they supported and cheered for us. Incredible, much love.

ø6 - Some words about your next releases and projects ?

We will be back in 2016 with our 13.0 celebrating the mystique of that number with a collab between both of us, and some nice surprises along the way. Time isn't being our friend, but we will manage to come out with something for sure in the beginning of 2016!
