Crazy Tomes has been a performing musician since 1999, when he appeared on stage with his hero, Little Richard, and sang "Lucille" with the legend. Inspired by bands such as The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, The Doors, and The Who, as well as artists like Chuck Berry, Elvis Presley, Bob Dylan, and Eric Clapton, he developed his own style of performance. Known for his outstanding musicianship, energetic performances, wild showmanship, and Hendrix-inspired guitar playing, Crazy Tomes has been successfully performing both acoustic and electric shows, solo and with his band Burning Wagon. As a singer and multi-instrumentalist, he performs in many styles, including R&B, Blues, Classic Rock, Funk, Pop, Southern Rock, Jazz, Folk, Reggae, Psychedelic Rock, Rockabilly and even Country.
Burning Wagon has been one of the most successful local bands in Virginia, and has toured the east coast throughout 2006. In 2007, the band has moved to Hollywood, CA, where they have been playing at places such as The Roxy, Crenshaw Live, B.B. King's Blues Club, The Pig and Whistle, and The Whiskey A Go Go. Members of Burning Wagon included DJ Milner (1951-2009), known for his work with The Chamber Brothers and Charles Wright, as well as Michael Beholden (Buddy Miles, Sly Stone, Mandrill), Billy Joe Daniel, Nicky Geo and Riyen Roots.
In addition to Burning Wagon and his solo music, Crazy Tomes worked with many local artists and bands from Virginia and California and with some of the greatest artists, such as, Koko Taylor, David "Honeyboy" Edwards, Eric Burdon (The Animals), Johnny Rotten (The Sex Pistols), Burleigh Drummond (Ambrosia), Remi Kabaka (Traffic, Rolling Stones), Shalim and members of bands including The Bluesbreakers, Rush, The Gap Band, Temptations, The Drifters, The Platters, Journey, Molly Hatchet and many others. He was an opening act for legendary acts such as Dave Mason and John Lee Hooker Jr. and acted in movies such as "Indiana Jones 4", "Yes Man", "Eagle Eye", and "Angels and Demons", as well as, T.V shows such as "ER", "Greek" and "CSI NY".
The current Burning Wagon lineup includes Crazy Tomes on vocals and guitar, David Morgan (www.davidmorganmusic.com) on vocals and keyboards (Rick Nelson, Three Dog Night, and The Associations), Wadada on vocals and bass guitar (Lauryn Hill), and Bill Spoke on the drums. They are very entertaining, performing songs of many different styles with a very strong musicianship and instrumental abilities.
