Cora Lajoie is a Canadian songstress exploring the place where Nature, Music, and Spirit root together. Born with a Pisces sun and Virgo moon, she is dreamy and creative, but secretly analytical, a combination conducive to poetry. Her childhood was influenced by being a part of the declining culture of Canada’s Chemical Valley, and the deep reassuring flow of the majestic blue St. Clair River.
Her songs are guided by her soothing alto voice, that leads the Music across vast landscapes of powerful melodies, subtly profound lyrics, uniquely rhythmic guitar, sparkling piano, and lush harmonies layered intuitively.
Presently 23 years old, she has three albums of Music and a heart full of dreams. Her first album, Falling, is an intimate acoustic look into the soul of falling in and through romantic love, as well as the inner struggles of a young adult wanting to fly free from restrictive paradigms.
Her second album, Mindshift, reflects the experience living in Scotland for a year, being and outsider looking in and writing it all like her life depended on it. Her mind awakened and shifted from personal concerns to environmental responsibility and understanding life from a greater perspective. Produced by Adam Miner.
Her third album, Flourish, is inspired by traveling the west coast of Canada, beginning to develop a spiritual relationship with the natural kingdom, and unfolding the tender petals of her innermost feelings and being. All albums are released independently, and are available on her website, at shows, and soon on iTunes.
Music is a mysterious magical power that Cora honours, and her live performances come with an energetic healing intent for those who are open. She shares intimate details of her experience as they relate to the songs, sings from a deep emotional place, and uses looping to create the harmonic palette she hears around her songs. She is in the process of creating visual arts to bring the live performances to a new dimension.
