Lodewijk Mortelmans : Stemmingsstukje (Intermezzo), A major - Video
PUBLISHED: Feb 19, 2013
DESCRIPTION: From 'Miniaturen voor klavier', Book 3 ------------------------------------------------------- Lodewijk Mortelmans (1868-1952) was one of the leading Flemish composers of the last century. He was a pupil of Peter Benoit in Antwerp, and later taught for many years at the Antwerp Conservatory. Mortelmans uses a very conservative idiom, but the sudden key changes show him as a 20th century composer. His piano writing shows considerable craftsmanship and the accompanying figures are carefully thought out. I like the sense of joyousness conveyed by this piece. For more on Mortelmans, see the Wiki page on http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lodewijk_Mortelmans . There is also a biography on his publisher's website - http://bit.ly/2wzLrre - where you can see a list of the many works of his that are available in print. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------------------------------- Played by Phillip Sear http://www.psear.co.uk (Email: piano4@psear.33mail.com WhatsApp: http://wa.me/441444483794 )
