This video I talk about copyrights, when you should copyright a work and when you shouldn't. I also go over how you can further protect yourself from someone stealing your production work.

Points in this video:
1. Date all your beats and save the original session file
2. Back up all your beats, if you don't have the history of a beat don't sell it.
3. Don't give away track outs (watch video on why)
4. Don't copyright beats with a gov. claim (watch video)

IF YOU USE BMI OR ASCAP:
.If you make a claim for your beat, then you sell it you are now going to offer a "royalty" split (BMI - 200%)
.If you sell beats outright with no royalties (discussed in video) do not register works, the artist will do so and he/she pays you.
