U-He Zebra 2 - Conga Sound Design - How To Tutorial - Video
PUBLISHED:  Dec 24, 2013
DESCRIPTION:
In this tutorial I show you how to create a Conga Percussion sound which is also extremely useful as a multi-purpose wooden percussion patch.

For the creation of the Conga Percussion we use a comb filter, a shaper (a distortion of you have Zebra 2.7) a reverb and an E.Q effect.

When using the comb filter we change the main settings to dissonant then by changing several of the settings in the comb filter, especially the dampening (which gives us the deep hollow Conga Percussion type sound) we get the primary sound required.

We then shape the amp envelope to make the sound short and snappy. This is a matter of taste and if you wish to have a longer deeper conga then you can adjust the amp envelopes decay and sustain settings as you see fit.

To add a bit more crunch, depth and width (if required) to the Conga Percussion sound we add the shaper to increase the high output, some reverb to give the sound more depth and space and finally we E.Q the sound for the final rounding off and shaping of the Conga Percussion patch.

All in all an extremely easy to create sound but as i show you at the end of the video, this patch is more than just a conga sound, its also drum stick, DJembe (almost), woodblock and a very organic wooden percussive sound which i am sure will come in handy for your tribal percussion.

Thanks for watching and i hope you all have a very merry Xmas.
