Cobalto is a 4-piece punishing metal device coming from Salvador, Brazil. The band started out on 1999 and quickly built a loyal fan base within their hometown.

Cobalto released 2 demos and their second effort, “Mindiversity”, brought them more cohesiveness and aggression. They got to tour the country and play with bands such as Shaaman, Necromancia, Torture Squad, Ratos de Porão and Claustrofobia, to name a few. Drummer Jera Cravo, who was playing at the time, left the fold to pursue other musical goals, and Louis (ex-Drearylands and ex-Mystifier), known for his virtuosity and abrasive drumming, joined Cobalto. The band continued promoting their latest outfit and finally entered the studio to record their debut album. “Elemental” was produced, recorded, mixed and mastered by engineer Jera Cravo (Blaze Bayley, Virgil Donatti, Tribal Tech, Diesel Machine, Malefactor) and is a brutal 12-song CD. The record was released through Brazilian indie label Atalho Discos on mid-2005 and was definitely the band’s breakthrough. Because of all the buzz and excellent reviews worldwide, Cobalto got to tour Europe for almost a year, playing in countries such as Finland, Germany, Belgium and Czech Republic, and got “Elemental” released in Europe by Finnish label Forkwork Music. These accomplishments also include a slot on 2006’s “Masters Of Rock” Festival, playing for around 25,000 Czech metalheads and along bands such as Whitesnake, Kreator, Apocalyptica, Master Plan and The Gathering, to name a few. After coming back to Brazil for vacation and to begin writing songs for the new album, Jan announced he was leaving the band. A couple of months writing the new album and trying out a few vocalists, Cobalto stumbled upon Viktor Lemoz, a gifted local metal singer who never quite had the chance of fronting a pro band. Exactly 4 practices later the band set on to record their sophomore album, “Metamorphic”. Under the same production/engineering, Jera Cravo, yet signed to a new label, Torto Fono Gramas, Cobalto wrapped up recordings in a month. “Metamorphic” was released in Brazil via Torto Fono Gramas in September 2008. The album got excellent reviews worldwide as the first album, but was clear the development at the time. Currently the band is composing new songs with a new guitarist Victor Mattos (Godmak, ex-Doykod and ex-Drearylands) to take a step up the ladder and come back on the road!

Se é na adversidade que os fatos da vida e os indivíduos se revelam, o Cobalto ressurge imponente agora em 2009. A banda de metal de Salvador, que nasceu em 1999, lançou 2 demos. Com a segunda demo, intitulada Mindversity, conseguiram dividir o palco com bandas como Shaaman, Necromancia, Torture Squad, Ratos de Porão, Claustrofobia, entre outras. Em seguida lançou seu elogiado primeiro álbum, “Elemental” (Atalho Discos), em 2005, e perdeu seu vocalista original, Jan, após retornar de frutífera turnê européia em 2006. Nem a turnê de 9 meses, que viu a banda passar por cidades da Finlândia, Bélgica e Alemanha, entre outros, tocar no gigante “Masters Of Rock” na República Tcheca, com bandas como o Kreator, Apocalyptica, The Gathering, Master Plan, Whitesnake, e gerou o lançamento do “Elemental” pelos selos finlandeses Forkwork e Dethrone Music, foi suficiente para fazer Jan permanecer.

Após semanas compondo, fazendo contatos e testando algumas pessoas, os caras recebem proposta da Torto Fono Gramas para gravar e lançar o seu disco no Brasil. Mesmo sem vocalista, o novo selo apostou na banda e o Cobalto esbarrou em Viktor Lemoz, talentosíssimo vocalista da cena independente local, porém, ainda pouco conhecido. Restando poucos dias para novamente adentrar o Vértice Estúdio, Viktor aceitou o convite do Cobalto e alguns ensaios depois, os 4 começaram a gravar “Metamorphic”. O álbum foi gravado em um mês e a produção do disco mais uma vez ficou sob responsabilidade da banda e de Jera Cravo, renomado produtor e engenheiro local. Com o apoio de seu novo selo e de seus fãs, o Cobalto superou a dúvida e a descrença para iniciar a criação de um brutal 2o disco. Liricamente conceitual, a música do grupo foi levada a extremos desta vez, fazendo com que todos testassem os seus limites, exigissem mais de si e transferissem cada gota de suor e sangue para as 11 faixas gravadas. Tudo isso perceptível à audição. Gerando ótimos reviews e elogios da mídia especializada.

Embebidos em nova energia e vontade de mostrar sua nova cara a todos, com seu novo guitarrista Victor Mattos (Godmak, ex-Doykod, ex-Drearylands), o Cobalto agora está compondo o EP, intitulado “Of Sound Mind. E planeja a sua volta aos palcos do Brasil e um retorno à Europa. Aguardem, valerá a espera!
