DESCRIPTION:
Clovis Nicolas, a French bass player and composer living in New York City, graduated from the Juilliard School, had the opportunity to perform with artists such as Peter Bernstein, Herbie Hancock, Kenny Washington, Brad Mehldau, Harry Allen, Dee Dee Bridgewater and Curtis Fuller. Parallel to his sideman activities, Clovis is a band leader. His music can be heard on the album “Nine Stories” on Sunnyside label (selected as one of the Best Albums of the Year 2014 by Down-Beat Magazine). Clovis currently performs with his new project, a piano-less quartet in which the bass becomes a key
element of harmony and rhythm.
