What are the Special Olympics GB National Summer Games?

It's the UK country's largest sports event for athletes with intellectual disabilities, held every four years. Our 9th National Summer Games will have been held in the city of Bath from 28 August to 01 September 2013.

Over three days of competition 1,700 athletes from England, Scotland and Wales will have competed in 12 sports. The events were free for the public to attend, therefore we invite you to come along, cheer on our athletes and discover why Special Olympics transforms the life of people with intellectual disabilities through sport. Support your local children in your area by volunteering, fundraising or support a family close by telling them about inclusion through sport for their child if they don't already know it helps to change the lives of these children through self esteem, making new friends and team work. You can take part whether you wish to be competitive at your child own level & ability or just go along for fun at any local club, they will welcome you with open arms. They also provide year-round training and athletics competitions that have been proven to enhance quality of life by raising self-esteem, widening social networks and lowering stress levels through the power of sport.
