Blondie/Chic/Fab Five Freddy/Funky Four Plus One-Good Times/Rapper's Delight-May 11, 1981 (live) - Video
PUBLISHED:  Feb 10, 2011
DESCRIPTION:
This was recorded live at Bond's International Casino on May 11, 1981 at a benefit show for Anya Phillips. The band featured Debbie Harry, Chris Stein and Jimmy Destri from Blondie, Nile Rodgers, Bernard Edwards and Tony Thompson from Chic, and Walter Stedding. They performed three songs, Rapture (the earliest public performance of this song), The Jam Was Moving from Debbie Harry's upcoming solo album, and finally a medley of Good Times and Rapper's Delight. For the final song the band was joined on stage by rappers Fab Five Freddy and the Funky Four Plus One, who engaged in a rap jam. This show occurred a few weeks before the famous series of Clash shows at Bonds which featured rap/hip hop acts, and is likely the first rock/rap fusion ever recorded. This is an audience recording, but the quality is fairly decent.
