GCSE Music Composition - Andante in A Minor (piano) - Video
PUBLISHED:  Feb 27, 2015
DESCRIPTION:
This is my first GCSE Music composition created using Sibelius software. It was originally meant for violin(s) with a piano accompaniment but I didn't know much with stringed instruments so I stuck to just a piano solo.

I tried to mostly stick with the baroque style of music, but also ended up including classical devices such as crescendo's instead of using terraced dynamics to prove the variety of devices I can use.

In the A section, the piece starts of in 4/4 time with a melody centered around triads and the circle of fifths whilst the left hand plays an Alberti bass (I-V-III-V pattern). It is supported with mordants and triplets to add complexity.

The B section comprises of an increase in tempo and with one of the stave with double the note value of the other. More varied dynamics are included and the melody is a bit more chromatic. It finishes with a I chord followed by a VII chord to make the transition to the next section.

The final section is basically a recapitulation of the A section, but with added turns and different pitching to differ between them. There is also a build up to a dramatic ending which concludes the piece.

I thought this might be helpful as an example work to anyone else taking GCSE music, as well as giving me an excuse to upload this =p

Also the playback line seems out of time.
