DESCRIPTION:
"Creeds," the opening movement of Constantinople, starts with "Christos Anesti,"" the Byzantine Easter chant of the resurrection sung in Greek by the mezzo-soprano, while the Middle-Eastern singer (alto) intones a similar creed from the Islamic faith. After several repetitions of these chants or improvised fragments, the cello inaugurates a long virtuosic instrumental section of the work that passes quickly from a variant of the previous Byzantine chant to a Balkan Dance of Turkish origin, which in Greece is called Tsifteteli, scored for the piano trio and an eclectic electronic soundscape.

« Creeds », le premier mouvement de Constantinople, s'ouvre par le « Christos Anesti », le chant pascal de la résurrection dans le rite byzantin, chanté en grec par la mezzo-soprano, tandis que l'interprète du Moyen-Orient (alto) entonne un credo semblable de confession musulmane. Après quelques répétitions de ces chants ou de fragments improvisés, le violoncelle entame un long passage virtuose qui passe rapidement d'une variante du chant byzantin précédent à une danse balkanique d'origine turque, appelée Tsifteteli en Grèce, faisant appel à un trio avec piano et à un paysage sonore électronique éclectique.
