Christine Kane is a singer-songwriter, performer, teacher and writer. Her career in music and the arts has been dynamic and multi-faceted. She regularly headlines at celebrated festivals like Rocky Mountain Folks Festival, Kate Wolf Festival, and Chattanooga’s Riverbend Festival, and popular venues, like The Freight & Salvage and the Old Town School of Folk Music. Christine has expanded into other arenas with her work and touring as well. In 2006, Christine went on the road with the North Carolina Dance Theatre in support of a ballet they choreographed to her music. The show received rave reviews and put Christine in the spotlight at major performing arts centers around the country.

Christine’s songs have been recorded by several popular artists, including country diva Kathy Mattea, and “Nashville Star” finalist Casey Simpson. Borders Books & Music chose Christine’s CD, “Rain & Mud & Wild & Green” as one of the Best of 2003, and the Washington Post called her “a petite powerhouse of a singer.”

Christine is also sought-after as a teacher, praised for her authentic and humorous approach to creativity, pursuing dreams, and living an artful and deliberate life. Her workshops on creativity are a practical approach to awakening the intuitive, creative side in each person. Her popular college-circuit lecture, “Getting a Job is Boring. Get a Life Instead,” draws on her own experiences as an independent musician, and gives grounded career advice to college seniors. Christine was hired by the Federal Government to teach creativity as part of its bi-monthly 2007 Leadership Assessment Program, an intensive retreat for government leaders.

Christine also facilitates three-day retreats for women at a resort in the mountains of Western North Carolina three times a year. These retreats are designed to motivate women to evaluate their lives and set new goals and intentions, while in a safe and comfortable setting. In her own words, “The retreats started as a one-time thing I offered to women on my fan list who wanted me to teach something that wasn’t songwriting. The first one filled up instantly. And so I just kept doing them. And as it turns out, I’m pretty good at it. These retreats have been transformative for many women!” Christine performs regularly at conferences and corporate events, and has been a keynote speaker on a variety of topics.

Christine created her own company, Firepink Music, which acts as her record label, business office, and management team. Since even the smallest ventures can make a profound impact in the world, Firepink Music is a green company, using only 100% recycled paper products. Christine’s CD jackets are manufactured on Living Tree Paper to keep in alignment with this vision.

Christine lives in Asheville, NC with her husband, her dog, and three cats.
