http://blog.chrisrobley.com No words. No sleep. Until 6am when I finally drifted off for about 10 minutes and woke quick having dreamt up a lot of the lyrics in this song.
I must've fallen asleep thinking about what my friend Michael Zapruder said last night on Facebook — about the decadent self-destructive impulse that's pulled us off the ledge — because that tug and panic wound up as the kernel for this song, which I "finished" writing in about 20 minutes. (I'm sure I'll be making edits after this, but I felt like I needed to post it TODAY.)
Beyond that: hope and love, my friends. Remember, love comes in many shapes: anger, outrage, action. Right now, please love, any way you can.
[The song was only a few minutes old when I recorded this, so please excuse the stumbles and the bumpy phrasing, and a few tears towards the end.]
