Nonsemble: Classical Indie Art Rock - Video
PUBLISHED:  Apr 25, 2014
DESCRIPTION:
Nonsemble is Brisbane's indie chamber ensemble, formed with members of Mr. Maps and some of the city's best young classically trained instrumentalists. Since being formed in 2012 by composer Chris Perren, they've played alongside Sigur Ros and Beck at Harvest Festival, released their debut "Practical Mechanics", been invited to play and talk at TEDxBrisbane, and were featured on New York's influential "I Care if You Listen" mixtape. Their music draws on post-rock, indie, and electronic influences, whilst taking advantage of the meticulous control afforded by notation and classical training.

On June 7 2013 they released their debut "Practical Mechanics" at a sold-out launch concert in West End, Brisbane. It is available for purchase on Bandcamp. They debuted their second major work, "Go Seigen vs. Fujisawa Kuranosuke" on March 22 2014, and plan to release a recording of the work in June.

This documentary follows the group in the lead up to their performance at TEDxBrisbane 2013. Conceived, captured, and produced by Brisbane filmmakers Eloisa Riley, Jarrod Allison and Jimmy Woo, it provides an intimate glimpse into the creative process of a pioneering Brisbane ensemble.
