Unfortunate news in the hip- hop world "Kriss Kross" rapper Chris Kelly was pronounced dead May 1st from an apparent drug overdose. You are tuned into ClevverMusic here is some breaking music news. Chris Kelly AKA Mac Daddy made up half of the 90's duo "Kris Kross" along with his partner Chris Smith AKA Daddy Mac. Chris Kelly died in an Atlanta hospital after he was found unresponsive at his Atlanta home. TMZ obtained a police report which stated that the cause of death may have been a fatal mixture of heroin and cocaine. After his passing, cops talked to his mother Donna Kelly Pratt who explained the night before he had taken a mixture of both drugs also known as "speedballs." She also told officials that Chris had an "extensive history of drug use." This news is obviously devastating for family, friends, and fans across the globe since his death was suddenly unexpected.

The 90s hip hop duo gained success from their hit hip hop track "Jump" which debuted back in 1992 over twenty years ago. Their famous track "Jump" off their album "Totally Krossed Out" spent eight weeks at #1 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart after its release. What made "Kriss Kross" unique was their style staple of wearing backward jeans, baseball jerseys, and shaved eyebrows. The pair was discovered by Jermaine Dupri from So So Def records at a mall in Atlanta. We recently reported that Kris Kross was planning to reunite on stage and there were talks of a comeback album. The duo performed at the 20th anniversary event for So So Def Records back in February this year at Atlanta's Fox Theatre. No one knew this would be Chris Kelly's last. He will definitely be missed, but not forgotten. We send our condolences to all of Chris' close family and friends as they are going through this tough time. In his memory, tell us know down in the comment box your favorite Kris Kross song. As always thank you so much for keeping it here on ClevverMusic, I'm Misty Kingma, see you all next time.
