Identified object located in France, CHOUM ET LES PERVERS MAGNIFIQUES is a band led by Pierre “Choum” Chaissac (author, songwriter, arranger, guitar-player, singer (dictator?)). These past years, he has been seen in the French bands PUDGY and D.I.T., and also with BENJA AND FATALIS (presently known as The FILM) for a cover version of The Beatles’ “Revolution” used for a huge TV advertising campaign of a French telecom company. He’s backed up in his job by Laurent Aubry (bass) and Pierre Nexon (drums). All friends before being musicians, the (dream?) team has developed strong relationships serving a repertoire rooted in its century. One can ear echoes of both famous or unknown names of Anglo-Saxon music or of some little pieces of jewel forgotten by the show/shit-business. Paradoxically, the band strives to sing in French, but stay far away from the dusty and has-been clichés of French-sung rock. CHOUM ET LES PERVERS MAGNIFIQUES keeps seeking for the missing link between Miossec (Fr) and The Pixies, or between The Clash and frandol(Fr), or between Olivenstein (Fr) and Neil Young, or… You can keep doing this on your own if you want to, because they are tired of it! To summarize, this is a kind of music in search of style, power and passion with a touch of very sarcastic self-derision. CHOUM ET LES PERVERS MAGNIFIQUES have just released their first EP called “Disponible(s…)”. These six songs were recorded by Alain Perier (seen with Kid Pharaon, Shifters, Blindfolded) and mixed by the gifted Fred Norguet (“sound wizard” for Weak, Sleepers, Burning Heads, Dead Pop Club and many others…). On this first attempt, CHOUM ET LES PERVERS MAGNIFIQUES only reveal a small piece of their sound-portfolio and they invite you to discover more as soon as possible!
