A Brief History
Lesson

It all began in the
summer of 96’. Jay and Mikey found themselves on a quest for a bass player.
They had always played punk, and wanted to continue. A random call to
Jkrap, and they were on their way. Becoming a 4 piece with Jkrap and Ajax
completing the lineup, their first rehearsal was in a bedroom. The band was
originally named “Section 8”, only to be changed to “The Assassin Nation”,
after one of their earliest songs.
Playing hard and fast, but partying harder, they eventually became “Chemical
Dependents” both literally and figuratively. Releasing albums such as “420
mg”, they brought their brand of loud punk chaos from the grime of NYC’s
CBGB’s, to church basements and American Legion halls in rural America.
Eventually, the chemicals became the priority. By early 99’, Chem D existed
only in memory, and on a few poor quality demo cassettes.
Fast forward to 2007… Chemical Dependents rose from the dead. They
instantly began recording some old songs, and some new. They released their
first record in almost 10 years titled “Lights Out For TJ”. Playing out
extensively and giving away over 500 free copies of the “lights out” ep
became the way. Rocking venues from Scranton to Allentown, and all points
in-between. Great shows were played, some not so great, but fantastic friends
were made along the way.
Chem D is now in its 3rd reincarnation. Jay, Mikey & Gooseneck once again
find themselves on a quest for punk… Where this quest leads is anyone’s
guess. The rest will one day be history. Be sure to check out the new E.P. and
stay tuned for show dates in an area near you.
