Christmas Without You
Christmas lights they gently glisten
mistletoe but something's missing
you are not around to see Jack Frost's the only one who's kissing
presents packed in paper prisons
dressed in fancy dancing ribbons
tucked beneath that evergreen her gloating crown a starry prism
winter fills the quiet kitchen
with wistful words of wishful dishes
cinnamon and roasted beast the oven's barren belly hisses
Yuletide timbers crackle crimson
fall apart like ripe persimmons
all along the mantelpiece
hung stockings mock my poor decisions
All aboard it's the last train home
am I foolish for to hold out hope
that you'd grace this place and knock on my door
people stroll the streets so merry
cheeks all red like holly berries
snow falls in a grand ballet and flutters like sugarplum fairies
all the the little children dream of
reindeer on the rooftops above
Old Saint Nick upon his sleigh
the gift I wish for most . . . is you love!
All aboard it's the last train home
am I foolish for to hold out hope
that this Christmas you would knock on my door
(instrumental)
All aboard it's the last train home
am I foolish for to hold out hope
that you'd grace this place and knock on my door
All aboard it's the last train home
am I foolish for to hold out hope
that this Christmas you would knock on my door
