DESCRIPTION:
NO COPYRIGHT INFRINGEMENT INTENDED - (Unissued Gold Star Recording Studios acetate) In late 1964, Edna Wright, the sister of vocalist, Darlene Love, released a single on the DOC Records label credited to Sandy Wynns. Composed and produced by Ed Cobb with a marvelous arrangement by Lincoln Mayorga, the tune was entitled, 'The Touch Of Venus'. The backing track has a connection to the Motown Records west coast offices as it was published through the company's publishing arm, Jobete Music, Co., and also that a version by Patrice Holloway was recorded with her vocals produced by the team of Hal Davis and Marc Gordon. Although not issued when originally recorded, the Holloway version was finally released on CD in 2002 and put to vinyl in 2016. In October 2020 while sorting through her mothers musical artifacts, Jana O'Hara discovered among several Gold Star Recording Studios acetates, a scratched and scuffed 8-inch acetate disc with another version of 'The Touch Of Venus' utilizing the original backing track with lead vocals by her mother, Charlotte O'Hara. The question now is, which version was recorded first.
