Please enjoy my performance of the Circus Charlie (NES) - Stage 01 Theme composed by an unknown composer.

Let's identify and examine the compositional techniques used in the Circus Charlie (NES) - Stage 01 Theme to enhance the gameplay and visuals!

The left hand plays an eighth note pattern which helps establish a steady pulse that is easy for the player to follow. The game relies on precise pressing of buttons to complete the level. Having music with a steady beat enables the player to use the music to his or her advantage and associate moving visuals with the rhythm of the music. Hearing a steady beat may help with the player's nerves on timing the precise jumps, which happen to be equivalent to about 3 quarter notes.

The music evokes the fun and lighthearted atmosphere of a circus. The symmetrical phrases make the music easy to understand. There is a parallel antecedent and consequent. A four-bar extension confirms the key of D major. Also, the chromaticism adds a touch of humor.
