Cha Cha Cha Music - Guitar Lesson 3 - Video
PUBLISHED:  Jun 02, 2014
DESCRIPTION:
Ready for more cha cha cha music?

In this 3rd lesson, of our 3rd series from Latin Guitar Channel, we continue learning how to play cha cha cha patters on the guitar.

It's important to note that cha cha cha (a.k.a. cha cha) is a medium tempo latin style which is just as popular to dancers, as it is to musicians.

In this second installment, I take you through a I-IV-V-I cha cha cha music progression in the key of C minor, so the chords are as follows:

Cmin-Fmin-G(7)-Cmin

We are playing a 4 bar progression over a total of 20 bars (repeated 4x) not including the 4 bar intro and 4 bar outro.

This cha cha cha music riff uses a combination of major & minor triads, played melodically. There are passing melodic notes played in between these triads to get that nice montuno style sound.

The beauty of cha cha cha music on the guitar is that you are mixing melodic and harmonic patterns, as well as some nice rhythmic patterns.

If you've played through Lesson 1 & 2 of this series, you'll notice that the only common chord is G (otherwise known as the dominant chord or the V chord.) The root (I) and 4th (IV) are now minor triads.

Altogether, the theory in cha cha cha music is not very complex. This makes it much easier to focus on the rhythm, feel and vibe of cha cha cha music, and just enjoy yourself.

Good luck with this, and stay tuned for more cha cha cha music video tutorials for the guitar. Stay tuned, I've got a couple more cha cha cha music lessons coming your way before we move onto our 4th series.
