I REMAIN THE SAME by CHAMELEON - Video
PUBLISHED:  May 02, 2012
DESCRIPTION:
Chameleon was a Chicago rock band formed in the mid 70's by Gabriel Magno. He had some previous success playing with the British jazz/rock group "IF", played keys on a Ted Nugent album or two, and even toured with Fabian, if I remember correctly. For me, as a young singer, this was the first touring band I was in, the first time for me in a real recording studio, and meeting a few great people that are close friends of mine to this day.

"I Remain The Same" comes from a 5 song demo. It's the only song I have from this session, as it appears on a radio station local Chicago band compilation called WKQX Hometown Album, which unfortunately was released after the band no longer existed. If anyone reading this (Gabe), has a copy of the other 4 songs, I would really like to hear them again. "I Remain The Same" penned by Gabriel, is a bit of an oddity in the Chameleon repertoire, because the band had more in common stylistically with Deep Purple, Uriah Heep, or even Led Zeppelin. This song is almost pastoral by comparison.

Gabriel Magno - keyboards
Carl Ostling - guitars
Mike McCune - bass
Steve Fagiano - drums
Gary Stewart - vocals

Props to Gary Gunderson, the original guitarist who is seen in some of the pix, and Mike Eberlein, who replaced Carl at the end, but I would have the pleasure of working with a lot in John Curulewski's band "Spread Eagle".
