I NEVER KNEW I LOVED THEE (A Scots Tune) Rowallan - Video
PUBLISHED:  May 29, 2014
DESCRIPTION:
The Rowallan Manuscript pp 26-27(Edinburgh University Library, Laing III 487) vers 1615 - ( Ca 1615)
Scribe certainly Sir William Mure of Rowallan who composed poems set to music. These lute pieces might have lost words ...
It is the reason why I sing for a few seconds before the lute piece.

Transcribed by Wayne Cripps Lyre Music Publications/The Scottish Lute Ronn McFarlane Dorian Recordings/Mel Bay

Moore's Irish Melodies (The illustrated 1846 edition) :
Desmond's song :
" By the Feal's wave benighted,
No star in the skies,
To thy door by Love lighted,
I first saw those eyes.
Some voice whisper'd over me,
As the threshold I crost,
There was ruin before me,
If I loved I was lost.
... But Woman's bright story
It told in her eyes ...
Beauty, born of the Graces,
Ranks next to Divine ! "
