Props to Eric Dias who asked for a remix, this is dedicated to you.
Gloria Gaynor was an immediate hit in the clubs with her "Never Can Say Goodbye" back in 1974-75. Her first solo release was "Honey Bee", released on Columbia and was strangely mixed, with the garage rock like sound of a prominent fuzz guitar failing to conmnect on the pop chart. When that sank, she changed labels and producers, gaining the services of a young Tom Moulton in the process. "Honeybee" was retitled and redone and put on her first LP, "Never Can Say Goodbye" as part of a side long disco suite where all three songs were segued together beat on beat like the clubs were beginning to peg into. This was the first time a disco album was pre-mixed. Her second LP, the 1975 "Experience" contained another side long suite with "Casanova Brown/(If You Want It) Do It Yourself/How High The Moon" that blazed a path right to #1 on the disco chart for the week ending October 18, 1975. I always felt that this one was inside out, that sixties girl group spoken segment was in the middle and kind of interrupted the flow. This way, it ascends into the song and gives you plenty of time to get to the dance floor. She sounds as sexy as Diana Ross!
