The “buttery-voiced” Rudeyna and her adventurous band, both subtle and outrageous, deliver eclectic compositions; most recently off their new EP, “Flying Radio”. Their performances offer kaleidoscope harmonies, rhythmic non-conventions, heart and courageous imagination with “talent [that] knows no bounds.” The music delivers a clear message of gratitude, determination and the intention to, as the song says, “mastermind the biggerness in living.”
Born into Beirut’s civil war, Rudeyna was wrapped in headphones and blankets so instead of bombs, she’d hear music. Thanks mom 🙂 These experiences inspire Rudeyna’s devotion to music, community and the power we all have to make life rich for each other. Once in the US, she followed music and had the privilege to perform for Herbie Hancock, Wayne Shorter… etc., as a Thelonious Monk Institute of Jazz finalist, From Beirut, Lebanon to New Haven, CT, the music is inspired by international and local influences, and the live project is brought to life by Rudeyna (Vocals), Bill Readey (Guitar), Lydia Iarocci (Bass), Fred DiLeone (Keys), and Kenny Owens (Drums). Sounds like a co-writing collaboration of Freddy Mercury, Bjork and Thelonious Monk, or Nina Simone starring in Ziggy Stardust, or T. M. Thiagarajan composing for Charlie Chaplin (from Rudeyna’s webpage)
