The Critics About Bye Sami's "Otro Dia Mas"

“Don’t let the Spanish scare you. Bye Sami’s musical terrain is familiar territory…Fucking Cool”.Punk Planet 53 (February 2003)

“Otro Dia Mas” the future looks bright for those who prefer punk that dares to expose a little more melodic prowess.” Batanga Magazine (2003)

“Extremely zesty and full of spun…I pictured the singer howling about love gone wrong, life’s hardships that seem so much more difficult for some than for others, and the comfort of true friendship” Surfing Girl Magazine (2002)

“Fun and energetic the songs come fast and furious and are well produced without losing their punk sound. Otro Dia Mas speaks through the language barriers with it’s collection of songs that serve as a reminder of the potential of the genre.” www.punkrockreviews.com

“All I had to do was just kick back and enjoy the album with its solid production value, catchy guitar melodies, and fun energy that the Tijuana kids have to offer.” Destroy All Monthly (2002)

“But even without knowing what the hell they are saying, this Otro Dia Mas drew me in. Most of the songs were great and reminded me of bands such as Lagwagon and New Found Glory.”-EJ Binns www.sandiegopunk.com

Bye Sami can be credited to have paved the way for many Tijuana based bands towards opening their musical horizons. The band created a name for themselves in the Latin Alternative scene and breaking the language barriers in the coveted general market punk world, proof of that was their memorable opening slot for Face To Face as well as excellent reviews from prestigious magazines such as Punk Planet.

Tijuana, Mexico natives (just south of the Mexican border), Bye Sami is characterized for being both an energetic melodic new school punk band. The bands songs filled with fast tempos, guitar-powered aggression and pop melodies combined with introspective, confessional lyrics. And musically, Bye Sami (formerly known as Los Alex) was often compared to bands like Midtown, NOFX and Lagwagon (among others). But lyrically, there is one major difference between them and those English-language outfits: Bye Sami's lyrics are in Spanish.

Bye Sami has performed in Baja, Mexico City, Monterrey, Cd, Juarez Chihuahua, Durango, Zacatecas, and Southern California.

Bye Sami was originally formed in Tijuana in 1997, when the band was still called Los Alex. The Latino rockers soon acquired a small following in Mexico as well as in the United States, and it wasn't unusual for a gig in Tijuana or Mexico City to be followed by a gig in Los Angeles or San Diego. In 2001, Los Alex changed their name to Bye Sami and signed to SourPOP Records. It was also in 2001 that Bye Sami recorded their debut album, Otro Da Ms, which was produced by Mike T (known for his work with Union 13, Choking Victim and Osker). Although Bye Sami had put out an EP back when they were called Los Alex, Otro Dia Mas was their first full-length album. Courtesy of Alex Henderson -ALL MUSIC GUIDE
