Summertime - Butterscotch & WDR Big Band - Video
PUBLISHED:  Apr 25, 2013
DESCRIPTION:
Butterscotch performs her own rendition of George Gershwin's "Summertime", beatboxing, singing and playing guitar, with The WDR Big Band at the Philharmonie in Köln, Germany.

Butterscotches grandmother's cousin, Anne Wiggins Brown, was actually the first woman to ever sing "Summertime" in the world premier of Porgy and Bess at the Colonial Theatre in Boston on September 30, 1935. Gershwin was so amazed by her voice when he met her that he wrote more songs for her character and she is the reason that he added "Bess" to the title "Porgy and Bess".
