DESCRIPTION:
When I was a child, a storm loud and wild
blacked out the lights of my room
and the howling wind froze me
then the dark shadows drove me
to hide from the noise and the gloom.
Now you are the child, being frightened, beguiled,
crying, "daddy, don't close the door".
Cause a room left in darkness means that monsters so heartless
can rise up from under the floor.
There's no need to be afraid!
When I was a child, the world had gone wild,
there was Cold War and protests and change.
We had atom bomb nightmares and killers with long hair
and theories of aliens so strange.
Now you are the child, and the world still beguiled
by fears that are given new names,
like the financial crisis, and terrorists like ISIS,
and a doomsday we call climate change.
There's no need to be afraid!
The children of God are like sailors on board
a boat tossed and turned by the sea.
But Jesus prays for them, and calms both waves and wind
to bring peace and tranquility.
There's no need to be afraid!
Above the storm, beyond the sea,
shines bright lights of eternity.
Time to go to sleep little boy,
time to close your eyes.
time to have sweet dreams, little boy,
under starry skies.
