DESCRIPTION:
Superb "Super Dynaction" tenor saxophone from Buffet-Crampon (Paris), model R-16, serial #16705 (1972). Rare and very good players, the best of the classical saxes. The instruments from the mid 1970's are, in our opinion, the best of Buffet's production. The later "S-1" Buffet saxes have similar playing characteristics but more complicated keywork. Our instrument wears 70% of the original dark lacquer finish and has had a few small dings that we've burnished and balled out. Keywork is very tight with no evidence of swedging to the hinge- tubes. All parts are original with no re-soldering anywhere. With very good original Lifton-USA case, everything clean and straight and with all new pads and corks. At one time, students at the Paris Conservatory were required to perform on Buffet saxophones. Our company sold this one, new, in 1972. Superb classical tenor, perfect for Prokofieff or sax quartet work. $2650
