DESCRIPTION: Dump trucks roared in to ship Africville residents out of their homes. By the 1960s, years of neglect and racism had not tarnished the spirit of those living in Halifax's oldest and largest black neighborhood. The relocation of Africville meant the end of a vibrant community. As one former resident put it, they lost more than a roof over their heads, they lost their happiness. Halifax relocated these people for a measly 500 dollars. The city has never made an apology and to the individuals of that community. We are hoping that this video generates more awareness.
