Aung San Suu Kyi, Burma's pro-democracy leader, human rights advocate and Nobel Peace Prize laureate was the Guest Director of Brighton Festival 2011.
As part of thE Festival Launch Articles 1, 3, 5, 9,13,19, 20, 21 and 27 of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights were recited from memory by Monica Ross with the Brighton Festival Chorus performing 'Sleep' by Eric Whitacre, conducted by John Hancorn.
