We slept outside we
Opened the sliding glass
We layed on our backs and
Stared into space and laughed
Every satellite holds
A path above the sky
We don't need to know how
It draws a streak from
Your side of space to mine
It circles the world it
Makes a reflective line
With our backs to the ground
Seeing millions of years
Through the lights in the sky
I love you I love you
I'll never leave your side
When I'm old and useless I'll draw your face to mine
And as the weight of the ground
Holds onto the sky
We won't need to know how
Oh

Finding no comfort in the trappings of any single genre, Boy Eats Drum Machine—the musical moniker of Portland, Oregon, native Jon Ragel—chose to create a sound flexible enough to incorporate everything he loved. His one-man-band approach is best seen in concert, where Ragel sings, spins, scratches, plays saxophone, and beats live drums behind an elaborate station of his own design. Oh, and he dances (really well!) the whole time. In the hands of a lesser musician, this all might come off as an impressive gimmick, but Boy Eats Drum Machine’s songs are as soulful and personal as they are technically impressive.
