J. Geils Band - On Borrowed Time - Video
PUBLISHED:  Jul 07, 2012
DESCRIPTION:
From their self-titled debut album from 1970 on the Atlantic Records label. Notice the distinctive guitar work done by J. Geils at 0:35 and 0:57. It's pretty hard not to hear a little Southern soul (Memphis style in particular perhaps?) in this underrated track by J. Geils

There's also a clear Otis Redding channeling going on with front-man Peter Wolf and his phrasing as well as holding certain notes. Wolf's great vocals along with the guitar responses from J. Geils, as well as his solo, stand out in this track. This has a "Stax Records" influence in the sound. Here is a group from Boston, one of the most northern cities around, yet they have such a deep southern soul/r&b sound to them. But this band can channel nearly any genre of music though. It's no surprise they started out with the name: "The J. Geils Blues Band"

This band live is easily one of my top 5 best music groups I've ever seen. They really do put on a "Houseparty" at their shows like no other!
