Bong Productions

De jaarlijkse hoogmis van de reggae, het reggaefestival in Geel inspireerde een aantal Geelse DJ’s tot de oprichting van een reggae dancehall soundsystem in 1996. Inmiddels behoort Bong Productions sound system met zijn 14 jaar ervaring tot de meest doorwinterde en ervaren reggae DJ’s van België. Rootstuff is medeoprichter en de main selector/DJ, zijn rechterhand is MC Charlie, die met zijn mic chatting iedereen aan het dansen krijgt.

Op het palmares van Bong: DJ-sets op Pole Pole Festival 2003, Dissonant Festival 2008, Happy 2008 & 2004, support act voor o.m Buju Banton,Max Romeo, Luciano & Jigsy King in Petrol (2006-2008-2009), Stone Love in de Fuse (2005) en Ricky Trooper feat. Harry Toddler in Las Manas (2001). Over de jaren speelde Bong Productions op honderden feestjes over heel Vlaanderen, van de Charlatan en Decadance in Gent, tot Rumba in Leuven, en JH De Bogaard in Geel waar het allemaal begon.

Bong Productions’ missie is de promotie van reggae in al zijn aspecten. In 2000 nodigde Bong the ‘gentleman rudeboy’ David Rodigan uit, in 2000 en 2001 ging Bong op tournee met Jigsy King en 14K en een paar jaar later ook met Delly Ranks. Rootstuff startte in 1998 met de opnames van mixtapes/cd's om de Jamaicaanse vibes te verspreiden. Voor Bong Productions soundsystem is het bieden van podiumkansen aan artiesten van eigen bodem een rode draad in hun evenementen. Getuige de Reggae Lift Off Party’s aan de vooravond van Reggae Geel. Sinds 2007 maakt Rootstuff ook deel uit van het artistieke team van Reggae Geel en organiseert Bong op het festival samen met Poppunt ‘Catch a Mic’, een wedstrijd voor jong MC talent. In 2010 ging Bong op tournee met Jigsy King & Tony Curtis, naar ondermeer Oostenrijk (Posthof in Linz) en Duitsland (U-Club in Wuppertal). In 2010 viert Bong zijn 14de verjaardag met Tony Curtis & Far West Crew in JH De Bogaard in Geel op 19 maart!

The annual reggae festival in Geel inspired a few local dj’s to build a reggae–dancehall sound system in 1996. Today, with its 14 years of reggae prophecy, Bong Productions sound system is considered to be one of the most experienced and hard-working sounds in Beljam. With Rootstuff, co-founder and main selector, at the controls and MC Charlie at the mic, getting everyone to dance with his mic chatting skills, Bong Productions is still going on stronger and stronger.

On Bong’s roll of honor: DJ-sets at Pole Pole Festival 2003, Dissonant Festival 2008, Happy 2008 & 2004, support act for e.g. Buju Banton,Max Romeo, Luciano & Jigsy King at Petrol (2006-2008-2009), Stone Love at Fuse (2005) and Ricky Trooper feat. Harry Toddler at Las Manas (2001). Over the years Bong Productions performed at hundreds of parties in Beljam, from Charlatan and Decadance in Gent over Rumba and Blauwe Kater in Leuven to Jh. De Bogaard in Geel where it all started.

Bong Productions’ mission is to promote reggae music in all its aspects. In 2000 Bong invited the “gentleman rudeboy” David Rodigan, in 2000 and 2001, Bong toured with Jigsy King and 14K and a few years later also with Delly Ranks. Rootstuff started making mixtapes/cd’s in 1998 to spread the Jamaican vibes even further. One of Bong Productions’ main goals has always been the promotion of local reggae talent, giving Beljam talent the opportunity to perform on stage, best illustrated by the Reggae Lift Off dances on the eve of the annual Reggae Geel Festival. Since 2007 Rootstuff joined the artistic team of Reggae Geel and Bong Productions started the “Catch a MIC” concept, a contest for young reggae talent at the Reggae Geel Festival, in co-operation with Poppunt. In 2009 Bong, Jigsy King & Tony Curtis went on tour through Europe, with stops in U-Club (Germany) en Posthof (Linz/Austria). In 2010 Bong Productions celebrates its 14th anniversary with Tony Curtis & Far West Crew @ JH De Bogaard, 19th of march!
