The history of Bonfire:

In the year 1972 a group of musicians came together and formed a band under the name Cacumen. After 6 years, in 1978, Claus Lessmann decided to join the band and this was a good thing for Cacumen.

In 1981 the Band brought out it´s first LP entitled "Cacumen" which was followed by "Bad Widow" in 1983.

In 1986 the Band changed to the BMG/RCA label and also changed it´s name to Bonfire. The first LP under the new label was called "Don´t touch the light". With the Fifth Angel Drummer, Ken Mary, there followed the LP "Fire works" in 1987. With sales of over 100.000 records this constituted something of a break through in Germany. However, with the costs of production, Bonfire was not financially secure and needed to find other work which would also give them more public exposure. As the warm-up group for Judas Priest´s "Ram it down" tour Bonfire had a good public reception. At this time the former Mad Max singer Michael Voss appeared for a short time as a guest guitar player with the band. Michael Voss later went on to form his own band called Casanova.

In the year 1989 came the LP "Point blank".

On health grounds, Horst-Maier-Thorn had to leave the band-and Hans Ziller left the management team.

Hans Ziller later formed his own band called EZ LIVIN. This group had a limited success with their published album.

The former Pretty Maids guitarrist Angel Schleifer took over the open guitar player position with the band, and the former SINNER drummer joined as well.

In 1991 came the last album entitled "Knock out".

A year later the second leading figure, Claus Lessmann, left the band.

In 1993 came live Best of CD.

In 1995 Lessmann and Ziller produced an album with the group HOTWIRE. After three long years, in 1996, Lessmann and Ziller succeeded in buying back the name Bonfire and the rights to unpublished songs from the Label Producer - This cost much money, but the town of Ingolstadt must go forwards!

Bonfire published as a come-back album the CD "Feels like coming home" and also a limited edition on CD of "Freudenfeuer" with a German text.

In 1997 as a leaving present from BMG came the CD "Hot &Slow" on the market.

Also in 1997 Bonfire published the CD "Rebel soul" under their own label LZ Records.

In the year 1999 the band finished the album "Fuel to the flames". On the CD you can find the Lynyrd Skynyrd song Sweet home Alabama.

2000 the band changed to the Label BMG and the Label published a Best of Album called

"Who´s foolin' who"

In the Year 2001 the band published the CD "Strike Ten", a Double Best of "The very

best of Bonfire 29 golden bullets" and a DVD "29 golden bullets"

2002 the guitar player Chris Lausmann desided to leave the band. Also in 2002 Bonfire published the CD "Live over europe" 2003 the band published the CD "Free".

2005 Bonfire has organized an Charityconcert "Rock for Asia".
