DESCRIPTION:
(Variations 50.011) (Robert Lenox)The story of The Enchanted Forest is really a tale of two bands, and a partnership with one of showbiz's more unique personalities, Tiny Tim.

The first Enchanted Forest began life circa 1966 and was the result after each of the five members left previous groups to put roots down in New York where they were based. The line-up included Judy, the organ player and main financial backer of the group. Before joining the band she was a promising programmer at IBM but the attraction of being a member of a band was too strong. On lead guitar was Carol, who had previously been a member of the group "Little Bill Little and The Yummies". Sanna, the blonde bass player, and Sally, the drummer, were the remaining members. However the mysterious fifth and last member was never mentioned in an interview the group gave at the time! After 6 months together the group scored a contract with Amy records and released the Kenny Lynch and Moth Schuman composition "Your'e Never Gonna Get My Lovin'", also recorded by British girl-group The Stockingtops. On the flip was a version of the Cohen classic, "Suzanne". However the life of the band was cut short on a Canadian tour in Toronto. After the breakup, Sanna became part of Neil Diamond's backing group.

The story does not end their, however, as the producers at the record company were not finished so they called in another girl band called Act IV to become in the *new* Enchanted Forest, a rebirth so to speak! This time the members were all from Long Island, who formed mid '66. The group included the initial following lineup: Missy Wolcott who played organ and bass, Peg Porter on lead guitar and bass, Sandy Klee-Phillips on drums and lastly Fran DiCicco also on organ and bass. The group originally got together after seeing Sam the Sham in concert. After a line-up change which saw Marilyn Pollack join the group and Peg leaving, the newly formed Enchanted Forest, the group released two records on the Variations label, both with "The Word Is Love" as the A-side, but with "I'm Not That Kind Of Girl" and "Cold Winds" chosen as the other cuts. The group also became Tiny Tim's backing group, and appeared on TV with him as you can see here (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OSX39Qhwx1A). After their breakup in 1970, MIssy went on to join another female group called The Maiden Voyage.

Hope that clears things up!
