Album Review: Puff by Blues Control - Video
PUBLISHED:  Mar 30, 2009
DESCRIPTION:
Released in 2007 on Woodsist records, Blues Control continue to impress and confound listeners.

Blues Control make this very tripped out, intangible, experimental, psychedelic, fuzzed out, bluesy noise rock. It goes from being silly to sublime to terrifying to soothing. Their sound is really hard to describe. It's noisy without being grating and experimental without being pretentious.

Loads of fuzzy guitars, detuned organs, bluesy riffs, strange hiss noises, church bells, beautiful passages and thunderous breakdowns. Very enjoyable if you have an extra open mind to new sounds and song progressions.

Guaranteed the guy and girl ( Russ Waterhouse and Lea Cho, respectively ) that make up this space jam band smoke up and take about portals and other dimensions all the time.

Plus, this album was recorded in Brooklyn, NY. The birthplace of most things awesome.

3.3/5
