James Milton Campbell, Jr. born Sept. 7th 1934 from Inverness, MS is known as "Little Milton" to Mississippi Delta Blues musical acclaim. While still a youngster in his teens with plenty of talent Milton began performing in front of live audiences and in clubs in Mississippi. His success as a blues recording artist spanned decades beginning in the early 50's for Sun Records until his death in 2005. After moving north to East St. Louis Milton recorded his first hit record, "I'm a Lonely Man" in 1958 with Bobbin Records. Several years later drawing the attention of Leonard Chess and signing with Chess Records Milton recorded a 1962 hit, "So Mean to Me" reaching #14 on Billboard's R&B chart. Throughout the 60's as Little Milton's popularity continued to grow it took his career to Stax Records until 1975. While recording for Malaco Records his longest label association his musical triumphs continued to proliferate recording 14 full length CDs. Little Milton was inducted into the Blues Hall of Fame in 1988.
